CHECK IN & HOST COMMUNICATION

If any windows are un-locked, or the doors are un-locked you may have your deposit affected, as you will leaving the house at high risk of burglary.
 
KITCHEN & BASIC INGREDIENTS
 
We provide sugar, teas, olive oil, salt and pepper, spices.
 
CLEANING PRODUCTS
  • The washing up liquid is by the sink.
  • There is hand soap by the sink.
  • There might be clothes washing powder or liquid in the house, but please bring your own, as our cleaner needs to use this for the house linen.
  • We provide a dustpan and brush, mop, bucket and broom.
  • There are basic cleaning products in the bathroom and under the sink in the kitchen.
  • Please do ensure the toilets are flushed and have a little bleach in them when you check out, we sometimes dont clean the house until a few days after you leave, so would really appreciate your help here!
 
BATHROOM PRODUCTS
 
There is liquid soap for hand washing in the bathroom and downstairs cloakroom.
 
IRON & IRONING BOARD
 
There is a iron that is kept in the cupboard under the microwave. There is an ironing board that is kept in the downstairs cloakroom.
 
OVEN
 
The oven was purchased new in 2022. It is hot, so keep the temperature low when cooking and keep an eye on your food.
 
COMBI BOILER
 
This can be turned on at the power switch under the boiler, to the left of the boiler.
 
GOOGLE NEST THERMOSTAT
 
It is very easy to use. Turn it right to turn the heating temperature up and left for down. The display will inform you how many hours it will take to reach the desired temp. Please set this to eco, or turn it off to save our planet, and be aware there is an energy crisis and costs are astronomical.
 
TV & SVODS
 
Netflix / Amazon etc, or use the BBC I Player which we pay for. You need to choose the input source/ selection button to select this channel. This button is a square with an arrow in it. TV The Freeview on the TV is poor reception. You can use the fire stick and log into your subscription accounts.
 
WASHING MACHINE & WASHING POWDER
 
There is a Bosch washing machine installed. This does not have a dryer. There might be clothes washing powder in the house under the sink, but please bring or buy your own, as our cleaner needs to use this for the house linen.
 
DRYING CLOTHES
 
We don’t have a tumble dryer. In the summer months we use the washing line in the garden. If it is raining we use the drying horse or the stand up electric heated rail – kept behind the chest of drawers in the dining room.
 
HEATED DRYER RAIL
 
There is a large electric heated rail that can be used in winter. Please ask for it to be left out. It can be put on a timer.
 
REFUSE COLLECTION
 
Our collections are usually between from 6am to 7am. Please check the calendar at the bottom of this post.
 
RECYCLING WASTE 
 
  • We put all recycling in the clear plastic bags (usually kept under the sink) in a small bin in the kitchen.
  • We take them out to the large GREEN council bin at the back of the garden.
  • On waste collection day (usually Friday unless there are bank holidays that week) we put the bags of recycling waste out of the front of the house the night before.
  • Recycling goes in your green bin.
  • Food waste goes in the food caddy.
  • Rubbish we can’t recycle goes in your black bin.
  • Garden waste goes in a brown wheelie bin you can order for an annual fee.
  • We have extra recycling collections for batteries, textiles and small electrical items

  • The South Oxfordshire council collect your food waste every week in the green food bin.
  • The South Oxfordshire council collect recycling and non-recyclables fortnightly – recycling from your green wheelie bin one week, non-recyclables from your black wheelie bin the next.
  • The South Oxfordshire council collect garden waste. This is an optional paid-for service.  It is usually collected in the same week as your recycling unless we advise otherwise.
 
FOOD WASTE & COMPOSTING  
 
The food waste needs to be put in the green composting bags in the white small kitchen bin, and taken out to the small BROWN bin outside the front of the house
 
PLANTS
 
Please water the house plants and garden plants a little, and also the garden plants. They love to be talked to, and cared for! Please remember to water the plants at the front of the house.
 
BACK DOOR TO GARDEN KEYS
 
These are kept in the kitchen drawer, please lock the door if you leave the house
 
FRONT DOOR
 
It is worth double checking you have pulled it shut when you leave, and also check you have double locked the door
 
LOCAL GUIDE BOOKS
 
There is a collection of local guide books & walking guides in the house. You will also find a pile of local information magazines, and leaflets in the living room, as well as some take away restaurant menus.
 
STAYCATION INFORMATION
 
There is a small wicker basket in the kitchen or dining room that has this information in it. There is info and advice on how to enjoy your stay in and around Henley.
