Steeped in history Henley is packed with interesting buildings that speak down the generations. First described in the 12th Century with little fundamental change since the Victorian era Henley is a quintessential English market town.
HENLEY REGATTA
Henley Royal Regatta has been held every summer since 1839 (except during the two world wars), the Royal Regatta is a unique five-day tournament of international rowing that draws top competitors and spectators from around the world.

Henley has its own radio station during Henley Royal Regatta; Regatta Radio broadcast on line and on 87.7FM
HENLEY FESTIVAL
The Henley Festival of Music and Arts is held in the weeks following the Royal Regatta, Henley plays host to a growing music and arts festival, the calibre of the acts increasing in range and importance every year.
MUSEUMS
The River and Rowing Museum, on Mill Meadows (5 mins walk from town center and rail station), tel 415600, is open daily 10am-5pm. Admission £2-3 It’s an excellent museum which charts the history of both the River Thames and rowing as a sport. The museum also houses an exhibition on “The Wind In The Willows”, which is popular with children aged 5 and above – additional charges apply. The museum has a superior cafe, with seating outside in fine weather.
WALKING
Henley is an easy town to walk around and there are some attractive short walks along the River Thames. If you’re feeling more energetic it is easy to get into the surrounding hills and woods for much longer treks to country pubs. Henley also features on the Thames Path and makes an ideal stopping point for refreshments or an overnight stay.

CYCLING
Henley is a great place to start a bike ride for cyclists at all levels. Families enjoy flat rides along the riverbank towards Hambleden, mountain bikers can quickly reach some fabulous off road tracks while road bikes can enjoy some challenging Chiltern Hills
THEATRE
Kenton Theatre is one of the oldest working theatre’s in the country the Kenton puts on an eclectic mix of amateur and professional performances, including musicals, comedy, ballet and music in an auditorium dating back to 1805.
CINEMA
There is a Regal Picture house Cinema in the town centre.
CONCERTS
Henley has a number of choirs and a highly regarded symphony orchestra. There is also a thriving music scene with live music to be found in many of the local pubs. Brakspear’s Jazz & Blues Festival every November gets the whole town jumping.
ALE TRAIL
Henley is still blessed with numerous traditional pubs. One of the best ways of discovering a few of them, while discovering the town at the same time is to take part in the Henley Ale Trail. Local Pub Company Brakspear challenge you to visit their 9 pubs in the town, enjoy a pint of Brakspear Bitter or Oxford Gold and get your map stamped.
